Chinese men are trying to woo American women on Red Note as U.S. users flock to the China-based app.

Americans flocked to Red Note after TikTok’s ban was announced.

While TikTok is full of celebrity gossip, memes, and get-ready-with-me content, Red Note became an unlikely stage for American women to find an unexpected fanbase. Shortly after they uploaded videos of themselves on the app, Chinese men ran to their comment section to express their admiration.

It’s been humorously dubbed the "Reverse Passport Bro" phenomenon. While passport bros (American men) head overseas in search of love, convinced women abroad are more "wife material," reverse passport bros are Chinese men (or non-U.S. citizens) heading to America to find American women. Well, they’re not exactly buying tickets to our country yet, but they’re definitely leaving comments like, "Pretty girl! Marry me! Please!"

One American woman shared a video, and a Chinese man wrote: “First time seeing you, it’s as if the stars have poured down onto the earth. Your radiance captivates me, completely ensnaring my heart and soul. As an American woman, your beauty is unparalleled.” I mean, my friends can’t even get a text back.

Another woman’s post had a comment from a user who wrote, “I am a male, extremely loyal and deeply affectionate, very very clingy! I want to find someone who is deeply affectionate, possessive, jealous, good at acting cute, loves to cry, has a romantic mindset...” he continued to list positive traits, including the fact that he "can text with one hand while eating" and "can recite the multiplication table." Oh, he will "even report seeing a stray dog."

A blonde woman shared a video of her sparkly dress. Again, a man wrote, "You're the most beautiful girl I've ever seen. I'll swim across the Pacific Ocean to find you."

Are Chinese men about to pack their bags and become expats in China? Maybe? But no, probably not – besides, TikTok is back, and the craze on RedNote will probably die down soon now that we have our beloved app to keep us all entertained.
