Rihanna Insists "There's No Way" She's Shopping For Clothes In The Maternity Aisle While She's Pregnant, And Here's Why

Rihanna is the cover star of the latest Vogue, and she opens up about her pregnancy journey so far. She and rapper boyfriend A$AP Rocky announced that they were expecting their first child just a couple months ago, and since then she has been capturing everyone's attention with her maternity fashion.
Rihanna Says She'll Never Shop in the Maternity Aisle
Rihanna, 34, is known for her daring fashion choices, and she's determined to maintain this trajectory throughout her pregnancy. Her body may be changing rapidly as her baby grows, but that will only mean that her style evolves quickly. She has been donning various different outfits that display her baby bump in new ways, and this is an intentional choice.
“I’m hoping that we were able to redefine what’s considered ‘decent’ for pregnant women,” she told Vogue. “My body is doing incredible things right now, and I’m not going to be ashamed of that. This time should feel celebratory. Because why should you be hiding your pregnancy?”
It hasn't been easy to keep up with her ever-changing body, and she jokes that her stylist will probably "ask for a raise after this," but Rihanna is loving the creativity that comes with maternity fashion. That's why you'll never find her shopping for traditional maternity clothes.
“When I found out I was pregnant, I thought to myself, 'There’s no way I’m going to go shopping in no maternity aisle,'" she shared. "I’m sorry – it’s too much fun to get dressed up. I’m not going to let that part disappear because my body is changing.”
Rihanna's basic rule is, if she would wear it pre-pregnancy, she'll wear it during pregnancy. Hence the many crop tops. When she went public with her pregnancy alongside A$AP Rocky, she was wearing a pink Chanel puffer jacket that was strategically unbuttoned at the top of her belly to show off her new bump. That was just the first of many high-fashion outfits that complemented her belly.
As excited as she is to become a mother, she hasn't had the chance to start shopping for her baby's clothes yet. “I’m so behind on everything,” she admitted. “I haven’t bought anything yet.” A$AP Rocky is already working on the nursery design, though, and she was given a mini bathrobe as a gift from her hotel in Paris that her baby will wear one day.
