Rose McGowan Alleges Gavin Newsom’s Ties To Harvey Weinstein
Actress Rose McGowan has gone public with some serious allegations against California Governor Gavin Newsom and his wife, Jennifer Siebel Newsom.
California’s governor Gavin Newsom is facing a serious recall, and Rose McGowan claims she has information regarding the complex web of corruption and abuse between Hollywood and California politicians.
McGowan made headlines in 2017 for coming forward to lead the fight against Harvey Weinstein. On September 9, McGowan appeared on Dave Rubin’s YouTube show with another bombshell story about Governor Newsom’s connection to Harvey Weinstein.
McGowan Claims Siebel Called Her To Silence Her Accusations against Weinstein
Six months before the New York Times article exposing Weinstein was set to drop, McGowan says she was contacted by Gavin Newsom’s wife, Jennifer Siebel. Jennifer supposedly wanted to meet with McGowan to discuss supporting female directors in Hollywood.
“Jennifer Siebel Newsom...called me and she set up a meeting with me to meet her somewhere in Brentwood. And I actually went. And I got very like creeped out and I saw her sitting where I was supposed to meet her and I looked at her and I turned around and went back to my car and drove away,” said McGowan.
Jennifer Siebel, a documentary filmmaker, has directed three documentaries that push identity politics and villainize masculinity, America, and media portrayals of traditional womanhood.
But oddly enough, her 2011 documentary, Miss Representation, is supposed to empower women, so it’s shocking to learn that she would contact a potential victim of abuse during a high-profile case at all.
"David Boies wants to know what it would take to make you happy."
Worse, McGowan claims that Siebel Newsom reached out on behalf of David Boies, the lawyer representing Harvey Weinstein, and who has a history of getting involved in landmark cases.
McGowan said, “And she called me on behalf of a Theranos board member, the longtime lawyer of Hillary and Bill Clinton and Weinstein, one David Boies...So this woman I don't know, some blonde lady with the last name of Newsom, cold-calls me and is like ‘David Boies wants to know what it would take to make you happy.’”
David Boies Has a History of Questionable Connections
David Boies, a partner in the Boies Schiller law firm, represented Harvey Weinstein in his case in New York. Boies represented and was on the board of Theranos, a corporation founded by Elizabeth Holmes that was valued at over $10 billion in 2014 before being revealed as a fraudulent company. He unsuccessfully represented Al Gore in the 2000 presidential election recount case, Bush v Gore, and was on standby to represent Hillary Clinton in 2020’s election.
It just so happens that Joshua Schiller, who is a lawyer at Boies Schiller and whose father is founding partner Jonathan Schiller, is Gavin Newsom’s brother-in-law. Joshua Schiller was arrested in January 2021 in Marin County, California, on allegations of domestic abuse, although the charges were later dropped.
It has also been reported that only weeks after leading a smear campaign against Harvey Weinstein’s accusers, David Boies sent Gavin Newsom a $300 bottle of wine as a gift.
McGowan Offers Proof on Twitter
Following her interview, McGowan shared a series of tweets that included supposed screenshots of her emails with Jennifer Siebel Newsom and graphics that explained the Newsom family’s connection to David Boies and Harvey Weinstein.
McGowan claims she saw Siebel Newsom talking to actress Reese Witherspoon when she arrived at the meeting place, which gave McGowan a bad feeling and she left.
Closing Thoughts
If McGowan’s accusations are true, the news could be devastating to Newsom’s fight against the recall in California. Newsom has already been subject to multiple scandals regarding his own affair, and an accusation of trying to help Harvey Weinstein silence his accusers does not look good.
It takes a lot of courage to step onto the public stage and challenge mainstream narratives. Rose McGowan has opened herself up to much criticism, but has also found support. Weinstein was brought to justice, and those who defended him must learn from their connections. If these politicians are serious about holding people accountable, it needs to start with themselves.
