Shailene Woodley, star of The Divergent Series, is under fire for reposting Melania Trump's statement regarding former President Donald Trump's assassination attempt.

On July 14, Melania issued a public statement following the harrowing incident at her husband's rally. Woodley shared the former First Lady's response on Instagram Stories shortly after, fueling a backlash against the actress.

"maybe that’s why we haven’t heard from her since her failed movie trilogy," wrote @marlborodeclavo.

"how tf you gonna star in a dystopian film and then still end up being a MAGA?" another comment read.

@dimmpall added, "oh thats very sad."

Despite the harsh criticism, Woodley has not publicly shared her political beliefs or shown any form of extremism – she's only reposting the statement. Does that really mean she should be canceled?

Others are convinced the actress is right-leaning, noting Woodley's purported "hippie to MAGA" pipeline journey. In 2017, The Fault in Our Stars actress was arrested for her participation in the Dakota Access Pipeline protests, a grassroots Native American movement aimed at halting the pipeline's construction.

According to the Times, Woodley has "eccentric beliefs" and is a "proponent of a hunter-gatherer lifestyle that involves eating clay, sunning herself between her legs, and not owning a cell phone." She sounds cool to me. In that same interview, she denied being a feminist. "No, because I love men, and I think the idea of 'Raise women to power, take men away from the power' is never going to work out because you need balance. With myself, I’m very in touch with my masculine side. I’m 50% feminine and 50% masculine, same as I think a lot of us are," she said.

Besides, Melania's statement focuses more on unity and humanity than politics, which seems to be what Woodley believes in. "We have always been a unique union. America, the fabric of our gentle nation is tattered, but our courage and common sense must ascend and bring us back together as one," Melania wrote.

"When I watched that violent bullet strike my husband, Donald, I realized my life, and Barron's life, were on the brink of devastating change. I am grateful to the brave secret service agents and law enforcement officials who risked their own lives to protect my husband." Melania also acknowledged the innocent victims suffering from the heinous act and offered her deepest sympathies.

She continued, "A monster who recognized my husband as an inhuman political machine attempted to ring out Donald's passion - his laughter, ingenuity, love of music, and inspiration. The core facets of my husband's life – his human side – were buried below the political machine. Donald, the generous and caring man who I have been with through the best of times and the worst of times."

The Slovenian native explained that "opinions, policy, and political games are inferior to love." Melania added, "Political concepts are simple when compared to us, human beings."

"We are all humans, and fundamentally, instinctively, we want to help one another. American politics are only one vehicle that can uplift our communities. Love, compassion, kindness, and empathy are necessities." Melania urges everyone to "ascend above the hate, the vitriol, and the simple-minded ideas that ignite violence."
