YouTuber and podcaster Logan Paul is now facing backlash after his old pet pig (named Pearl) was abandoned in a field and found by The Gentle Barn. According to the animal sanctuary on TikTok, Pearl was found alone in a field with another pig who had died, and had a "potentially life-threatening infection in her uterus that has since been healed."

On January 9, 2022, The Gentle Barn posted a video on TikTok that detailed Pearl's journey, garnering millions of views and over 50,000 likes. "We got a call about a pig abandoned in a field," they explained. "She was found with another pig who had passed away. She's lucky to still be alive."

They continued, "We were told she belonged to a famous YouTuber and was irresponsibly relocated. All we know for sure is she ended up abandoned and scared with mangled ears and a broken heart. We brought her to our sanctuary with a promise that she will never be alone again. Welcome home, Pearl."

From the information that the sanctuary gathered, the pig was purchased from a breeder "by an influencer." However, many people who buy "mini pigs" often believe that will stay small. These pigs grow up larger than expected and end up having "unexpected needs" – only to be discarded later on.

On February 26, 2020, Paul tweeted about Pearl and posted a picture of himself feeding her: "i bought pearl over a year ago. i was told she was a mini pig... she’s not."

Logan Paul has since reached out to The Gentle Barn via email, which was obtained by TMZ, and thanked them for caring for Pearl. He also explained how she had been rehomed multiple times. The mega influencer stated that Pearl lived in his home in Encino for two years until April 2020, when he moved to Puerto Rico. He recalled that she was "treated like a princess, bathed regularly, ate a variety of healthy meals, roamed the yard, and had a shelter and pen of her own."

Pearl was first rehomed to a ranch then to a farm across the street "with the purpose of care." He added that the situation was "shocking and heartbreaking" and is now offering to help Pearl.

"For what it's worth, I'd love to send a token of my gratitude to your organization for taking Pearl in and doing something so kind," Paul wrote in his email. "I thought she was at a good home, but regardless, she is now and I'd like to contribute to her care again. I can't thank you enough for stepping in. Please let me know how else I can be supportive."

With or without Paul, Pearl truly is in good hands now. "While we don't know everything she's been through in her past, we know her life is now filled with friends, nutritious foods, the highest quality care, and so much love," the Gentle Barn wrote.
