Taylor Swift's Team Allegedly Threatens To Blacklist Publications If They Write "Negative" Pieces About Her
In a now-deleted tweet, "Gossip Girl" reboot writer Eric Eidelstein alleged that Taylor Swift's team would "threaten to blacklist publications if they wrote anything negative about her."
A resurfaced tweet from 2022 is making the rounds on social media, alleging that the mega popstar's PR team threatens publications when they criticize her.
Following the release of Taylor Swift's The Tortured Poets Department this year, numerous publications outside the U.S. slammed the album for its "lackluster" songs. However, those who praised Swift mostly came from American media outlets, including Rolling Stone, who hailed the singer as the "better Adele," and Variety magazine, which left a lengthy, positive review for TTPD. Pitchfork (formerly Pitchfork Media), an American online music publication, was fair in rating the album, giving it a 6.6.
Amidst the divided reception, the resurfaced tweet by Eric Eidelstein, a writer for the Gossip Girl reboot and journalist, gained traction on social media. Eidelstein shared his thoughts in response to another writer, Geoff Nelson, who claimed he was encouraged to slander Swift's Reputation album. “Ok, but conversely when I was in that writing world, Taylor’s team would threaten to blacklist publications if they wrote anything negative about her,” he wrote in the now-deleted post.
An X (formerly Twitter) user alleges that Eidelstein deleted his account due to bullying from Swifties after this.
This is not the first time Swift has been accused of manipulating the media. In 2023, data scientist Britney Muller said Swift "attended the JETS game as a strategic SEO play to bury her jet emissions stories."
The devil works hard, but Swift's PR team works harder.
