Before we go full fall mode with our PSLs, burgundy nails, and knee-high boots, we have one last summer milestone to check off the list: Labor Day.
While it’s safe to say that the majority of us who fall into the Gen Z and millennial camps are totally uninformed about the true purpose Labor Day actually serves or the history behind it, I think we can all agree that one thing we do know is that it’s an excellent weekend for sales. And we have off work. That’s all that really matters, right?
So while we’re poolside, celebrating our last long weekend of the summer with snow cones, hot dogs, and questionable DIY fireworks, we’ll also be keeping tabs on our favorite brands to utilize our consumerism in honor of good old patriotism.
We may have worked hard this year, but the marketing teams at Amazon, Abercrombie & Fitch, Banana Republic, Anthropologie, Brook Linen, Walmart, and the like are certainly working harder today. Labor Day is the last major sales event before Black Friday hits in November, so it's safe to say that the time to stock up on home essentials, fall wardrobe staples, and gifts for attending a wedding, baby shower, or birthday is now.
