The Best Street Style From NYFW, Plus The Outfits We’ll Be Stealing ASAP
We’ve made it to the final day of New York Fashion Week, and boy, do we have a lot of outfits to cover.
As someone who proudly attended NYFW for two years before getting pregnant and settling down in the suburbs, I feel like I have a fairly solid grasp on how things work there. Generally, the more outrageous the outfit, the better chance you have at getting photographed outside of Spring Studios, getting posted by a reputable magazine or Instagram account in their fashion overview, and gaining clout and followers. This means bright, bold colors, daring silhouettes, and over-the-top styling and accessories that you’d never see worn on a typical Tuesday afternoon, or even for a date night in many cases. That’s why, oftentimes, if you’re simply in New York at the same time or scrolling Instagram or TikTok to see what your favorite influencers are up to, you’ll bear witness to some pretty shocking ensembles that may leave you scratching your head. It might have you wondering, “Is this how I’m supposed to dress? Are these the newest trends?”
Now, thankfully not everyone plays by these rules (namely celebrities and top-notch influencers boasting millions of followers already) which leaves us with outfits that we can actually drool over and gather some solid inspiration from. Because I’m a sucker for this week in particular when it comes to fashion…and I may be experiencing some FOMO (let’s be honest), I’ve been following along closely – for the good and the bad. I’ve weeded out the nipple-baring tops, the thong skirts, and the tacky, over-the-top styling. If you pay close attention, these outfits are almost never worn by style icons sitting front row during the shows anyway. The women who are truly present to admire the designers’ latest collections and represent brands know how to dress in a fashionable yet classy way.
And although we can certainly gather plenty of inspiration from the runways and presentations themselves, the street style during New York Fashion Week is my personal favorite. It’s more indicative of the season we’re heading into currently rather than what’s coming down the pipeline next year (a.k.a. it’s more helpful for us when getting dressed this fall). So, without further ado, let’s take a look at 32 of the best outfits from the NYFW streets, plus 5 outfits we’ll be recreating on a budget ASAP.

Get the Look for Less
If you can’t afford to spend $330 on an Alice + Olivia dress for a statement-making outfit this season, no worries (and also, same). I found you an excellent dupe for less than $25 that mirrors the look for a fraction of the price. While searching, I also came across a similar style for $60 that’s belted and has a bit more edge to it that I may just like more than the original designer piece.
Not only is Becca’s original jacket from Revolve nearly $300 alone, but it’s almost completely sold out as well. Thankfully, I was able to source a black tweed long-sleeve shirt for $42 that pairs perfectly with a very similar black mini skirt for $22. Finish the look off with a corduroy baker boy (or cabbie) hat for $29, and you’re all set!
One of my favorite looks from NYFW, I don’t have to tell you that this signature Fendi outfit costs a pretty penny. Instead, let’s swap out her overpriced turtleneck for one that’s just as stunning that’ll also keep our wallets in check. Try this printed mesh top for $61, and pair it with these satin wide-leg pants for under $70.
Marianna’s white vest, while a gorgeous staple piece for any season, costs nearly $200 alone. However, I was able to find a near-replica for less than $80 that I already added to my cart. Style it simply with a pair of light wash denim jeans and a black belt and you’re ready to tackle anything.
With this Tibi dress appearing to cost a whopping $900 (but, why?), it’s no wonder that we’d be smart to swap it out for something costing…I don’t know, a little less? I found one online in a matter of minutes that’s nearly identical and costs only $40. Wear it with a pair of brown knee-high boots, and you’ve got a head-turning look that you (and your wallet) can feel good about.
Closing Thoughts
Admittedly, many of the most drool-worthy looks from the streets of New York Fashion Week are either expensive gifts from designers or are impractical for everyday wear, but it doesn’t hurt to swoon over them anyway. While we may not be buying the exact same dress as our favorite celeb repping a brand like Fendi, we can gather inspiration from the different colors, silhouettes, and styling choices. Recreating these iconic looks from 2022 NYFW can be easier (and more affordable) than you might think!
