The Tea You Need To Know About "Love Is Blind" Season 6
"Love is Blind" is pretty messy this season, so here’s a tea recap of all the episodes out so far (Episodes 1-6).
The pods have opened up in Charlotte, North Carolina!
We’re giving you a recap on the cringiest moments in case you don’t have time to binge-watch Love Is Blind season 6. Spoilers ahead!
Episode 1
Love Triangle?
Episode one wasn’t too exciting – contestants ask each other questions in an attempt to get to know each other, as per usual. It didn’t take long for potential matches to be made, though. Jessica (29-year-old executive assistant and single mom to her 10-year-old daughter) and Jimmy (who is 28 and has a career in software sales) connect, but she drops a bombshell: She has a daughter at home.
He's got more things to think about now, on top of already having to decide between her and his other connection, Chelsea, a 31-year-old flight attendant and event planner. Chelsea, on the other hand, has gotten married before. Jimmy isn't too worried about that. “It doesn’t scare me,” he tells Chels.
Matthew Accused of “Two-Timing”
Matthew is not like the other guys – or so he wants you to think. While the men were hanging around in their quarters, Matthew was silently reading his book in the corner. He’s an intellectual. The pod dates with him feel like a high-level job interview.
But still, he’s got two girls hooked – AD, a real estate agent and former Patriots cheerleader, and Amber.
He tells AD that his greatest accomplishment was finding her. “Matthew, are you serious?” she asks him. “I’m dead serious,” he responds. AD looks so happy; who wouldn’t be? Matthew asks about her dad because he believes asking the father for permission to wed his daughter is important. Unfortunately, he has passed, but you get the point – Matthew is coming off as someone super into AD. He explains how ethnicity doesn’t matter to him, and AD is happy to hear this.
“I’m all smitten over here,” she admits.
Then… AD goes to Amber (one of her friends) after her date with Matthew. She finds out that he was telling Amber some of the exact same things. That’s a red flag – run AD!
Matthew faced backlash for his actions online. In response, he wrote on Instagram: "Key element of my story that was never disclosed is that I live an alcohol free lifestyle and did the experiment sober. It was a key factor in why I had so much difficulty connecting with women in the beginning. There was also many misrepresentations and falsehoods created in my opinion to smear my character. I look forward to telling my side of the story with the full truth at the appropriate time." [sic]
Episode 2
AD Confronts Matthew
Exactly as the title states, Matthew denies the “two-timing” allegations. “I’m being recorded. It’s not like I can hide that,” he tells AD. He then tells her that if he had to make a decision, he’d choose her. He also tells her that he's disappointed about her talking to other guys.
AD, Clay, and Matthew Love Triangle
It cuts to AD speaking to her other connection, Clay, an enterprise and sales entrepreneur. She tells him about Matthew, and Clay is not happy about being in a “love triangle.”
“You’re gonna regret that,” Clay says. He's heated and paces around the room. Like Matthew, he’s upset that AD has more than one connection. He tells her she needs to think about everything, and they can reconvene tomorrow. AD gets overwhelmed and cries when he leaves.
Toward the end of the episode, Amber leaves, and Matthew says he’s done because he can’t “commit to the plans” AD supposedly desires.
Chelsea Says She Looks Like Megan Fox
Chelsea asks if Jimmy gets told he looks like a celebrity, to which he says yes. Chels says that because she has “dark hair and blue eyes” (Jimmy seems excited), people tell her she’s a Megan Fox lookalike.
But before she name-drops her, she says, “It’s, uh, I don’t even know if it's MGK’s wife or his girlfriend?” Like, c’mon – how do you know MGK but not Megan Fox? Jimmy finishes her thought for her: “Megan Fox? Are you saying you look like Megan Fox?” Chelsea giggles, but she doesn’t realize that Jimmy likely has an exact image of Megan Fox in his mind now, meaning his expectations have been set.
Chelsea got roasted for this, but I see how she resembles a younger version of Megan Fox a little bit, but only at certain angles.
Episode 3
Couples are made! Contestants Amy and Johnny have the first meeting of the season.
Kenneth proposes to Brittany (they’re both so cute and wholesome; they were painting in this episode and discussing their beliefs).
Chelsea cried as she left the pod because she felt "emotional" after Trevor confessed his love for her.
Episode 4
Clay proposes to AD. Kenneth and Brittany meet; they're attracted to each other. Clay and AD also meet, and they're overjoyed. Rooting for them!
Jessica, Jimmy, and Chelsea Drama
By this point, it seems Jessica is sure that Jimmy will choose her. She gives him a letter that she wrote to her future husband, and he cries reading it. But when he's done, he's unsure about committing. Bad news for Jessica, because Jimmy later tells Chelsea he loves her. Jess finds out, and the girls try to comfort her.
Jimmy and Jessica have one last conversation and tell her he "loves someone else." She's upset because he didn't tell her sooner.
Meanwhile, Chelsea has to decide between Trevor and Jimmy. She can picture herself with both of them.
Episode 5
Chelsea chooses Jimmy, and they meet. Trevor is left heartbroken. Contestants Jeramey and Laura end up together.
Jimmy Doesn’t Seem Attracted to Chelsea
In his confessions (right after seeing Chelsea for the first time), Jimmy has a Freudian slip and says, “I’ve never been more sure that Jess…” he pauses to correct himself, “that Chelsea is the one that I can talk literally to about anything.” The Netflix producers are hilarious for leaving that in there.
Jimmy also claims that before the show, looks were important to him, but that has changed. However, people stated that he didn’t look all that impressed when he saw Chelsea for the first time. The two kiss and embrace each other. “You’re so handsome,” Chelsea tells him. He just holds her and smiles.
Later on, he says, "She definitely lied to me on how she looks," and "at the end of the day, it doesn't really matter," that he's attracted to her and can "work with that."
All of the couples head to the Dominican Republic for their honeymoon!
Episode 6
Johnny and Amy are in their own world. They are head over heels for each other, and I love that for them.
Jimmy Talks About AD’s Butt to Chelsea
This part's crazy. Chelsea tells Jimmy that her type is “big and muscular,” which is pretty funny because her other option (Trevor) is buff. All of the couples meet at the beach to discuss everything that’s happened so far. Everything seems to be going well until Jimmy tells Chelsea that AD “is stacked.” She shakes her butt, and then Jimmy gives AD a high-five and a side hug.
Chelsea gets another tequila shot. I’m sure she needed it. “I feel sick,” she tells Amy at the bar while Jimmy talks to AD.
Side note: This is why you shouldn't try to be the "cool" girlfriend. If a man is sexually eyeing another woman up and down, you don't play along. Tell him that's not okay. If he's comfortable saying those things to your face, who knows what he's capable of doing behind your back? As Amy tells Chelsea in this episode, "You should be in the only girl in the world with your man."
When they get back to their room, Jimmy apologizes for hurting Chelsea's feelings.
Bean Dip Controversy
Jeramey tells Clay and AD that Laura told him to jokingly slap AD's boobs, which she referred to as a "bean dip." “No, she told me to do it to you, and I was like, ‘I’m gonna get f*cking canceled,’” Jeramey said.
"Bean dip" is an expression that means "flicking a woman's breast with the index finger." AD confronts Laura, saying that Jeramey doesn't seem to think it was a joke. Not sure how sexual assault is supposed to be funny.
That's all we have so far. I do have some concerns, though. What will happen when Jimmy meets Jessica? She's a beautiful girl, and given how he reacted when AD was around, I'm afraid he'll say something out of pocket. Will Jeramey and Laura resolve the bean dip controversy? Will Chelsea ever mention again how she looks like Megan Fox? Probably not.
