People Believe This TikTok Couple Are Alleged Cousins—Kiyomi And Micah Controversy Explained
Kiyomi and Micah, a popular couple on TikTok, are facing backlash after one of their alleged family members claimed they were cousins.
Kiyomi (@kikiyomimi_) is a content creator on TikTok who makes comedic videos with her boyfriend, Micah, and their baby, Suni, in their van. The couple has an age difference of four years: Kiyomi is 21, and Micah is 25. They have amassed over 300,000 followers on the platform and 16,000 on YouTube.
For a while now, people have commented on how the two have similar features, including eye, hair color, and skin tone.
Alleged Family Member Says Kiyomi and Micah Are Cousins
The rumor of Kiyomi and Micah being related became a viral topic when an account going by Tori (@velise327) showed an image of her and Kiyomi when they were younger. Tori claimed that she and Kiyomi are related and said that Kiyomi's father is cousins with Micah, which makes Micah Kiyomi's first cousin once removed.
Another commentator on TikTok Haussdrama (@haussdrama) shed light on the controversy in a viral video, providing a screenshot of Kiyomi responding to a comment that read, "Yeah we're second cousins and weve been together for like 4 years now but I might hop on twitch and talk about it a little more if ppl ask lol."
Haussdrama noted that older photos of Kiyomi and Micah hanging out are easily found on Instagram, even before dating. In her video, she speculated, "It's very likely that Micah groomed her at a very young age."
Haussdrama also shared photos of Kiyomi and Micah's family tree, including images of their great-grandparents discovered by social media sleuths. According to some of Kiyomi's fans who used to watch her on YouTube, they recall her admitting that she grew up in a religious household and that she and Micah were homeschooled. The audience wonders if the two got kicked out and were forced to live in a van together. Again, none of this has been confirmed yet.
Haussdrama also showed an image of Kiyomi's great uncle, as she says, and he certainly does share a resemblance to Micah.
"Arguably, you could say that Micah is like a great uncle to Kiyomi based on the age difference and how they fit into their family tree," Haussdrama added.
Redditors further allege that Kiyomi has talked about her family in the past and that they reportedly "forced" the pregnancy on her by "hiding her birth control." One Redditor wrote that they also have the same last name.
While many people on TikTok believe the couple should be de-platformed for alleged incest, they have plenty of fans who are coming to their defense. "so if kiyomi & micah are cousins what are yall gonna do? stone them? like why are ppl so mad yall don't even know that it's true," wrote @THlNKPINK_XO on X/Twitter.
Indeed, even Haussdrama's comment section is full of comments like, "You guys are way too invested" and "It's THEIR business." Some have mentioned how TikTok is a source of income for Kiyomi and, thus, a way to support her baby. Kiyomi has confirmed during a TikTok live that Micah has a job without disclosing any more details.
The couple is also known for their banter and jokes. Is it possible that Kiyomi was joking about Micah being her cousin like some people believe, or are they truly related?
In a video uploaded last week, Kiyomi responded to a comment asking how she and Micah met. She provided a joke answer and lied to see if Micah would play along.
Kiyomi and Micah have yet to comment on the controversy.
