Tom Holland Says He'll "Disappear" From Movies After Becoming A Dad
Tom Holland shared the reason why he doesn’t appear alongside Zendaya at premieres – and how he plans to disappear from Hollywood after becoming a dad.
Tom Holland and Zendaya are again proving why they’re the ultimate power couple.
Holland showed off his muscular physique in the recent issue of Men’s Health and opened up about his goals for the future and his personal life. When he’s not swinging through cities in the iconic red and black spandex suit, he’s out in the real world proving why he’s the template for what every modern partner should aspire to be.
Case in point: his recent comments about stepping back from red-carpet appearances with his Zendaya so she can shine. “It’s not my moment, it’s her moment, and if we go together, it’s about us,” he said, explaining why he doesn’t accompany her at premieres.
Holland is obviously aware of how the media works. One second, it’s all about Zendaya’s impeccable gowns; the next, it’s “Tomdaya” trending on Twitter. Not only does he want to make sure he doesn’t overshadow her, but he’s also very protective. Recently, the Spider-Man star made headlines when he boldly pushed back against aggressive paparazzi crowding around Zendaya.
Despite his net worth, Holland still goes grocery shopping. Although, even that gets chaotic sometimes. He shared a story about breaking up a fight between two guys at Whole Foods in L.A.. “They’re like going at it, right behind me,” he recalled. Like a superhero, Holland grabbed one of the men in an attempt to stop the fight. “I can see that he’s recognized me immediately, and you could see the wheels turning, like, I’m really angry, but Spider-Man is telling me to calm down,” he added, laughing. “So, yeah, I go to the supermarket.”
Holland also made it crystal clear that when he becomes a dad, he's retiring from acting. He’s going to focus on fatherhood, raising kids, and golf. “When I have kids, you will not see me in movies anymore. Golf and dad,” Holland noted. “And I will just disappear off the face of the earth.”
Naturally, X (formerly Twitter) had a field day with his comments. Some people decided to be petty for no reason: @yosoymichael wrote, “Kinda hilarious that he thinks he could draw any attention away from her. Like ohhhh that’s not—”
Meanwhile, others hit back with nuance (on X! Can you believe that?). @strawbrryhrts nailed it: “Exactly! Mind you, when he defended her from paparazzi recently, the entire TL was Tomdaya for 3-4 days. It’s not him thinking he’s a bigger star; it’s knowing that mainstream media has always prioritized women’s personal relationships over career achievements.”
If you’re out here looking for a husband, Holland has laid out the blueprint.
