Imagine being a transwoman. Now imagine creating your entire internet personality on going to restaurants, speaking with a manly voice whilst acting masculine, and suddenly getting upset when your waiter or waitress "misgenders" you by referring to you as "he" or "mister."

This is an opinion piece.

And so you post these interactions on TikTok – including the moments where you ask for a manager so that the employee can "learn their lesson" and possibly get fired. After all, why shouldn't they lose their only source of income in this economy, right? Meanwhile, the only thing that's "womanly" about you is your hair, clothes, and makeup (I guess it's okay to reduce women to these material things and stereotypes).

This is exactly what Lilly Contino’s (who goes by Lilly Tino) content is. Almost every day, Tino gets his meals paid on TikTok live and has something to complain about to the waiters, waitresses, and managers. What's worse is that he seems to be aware of his Karen tendencies because, in one video, he admitted: "I'm not always the easiest customer. And also they deserve it, because they're servers."

Read that last line again. Is Tino saying that servers deserve to be treated like they're servants or that they're below him? And, yes, I’m going to refer to the internet personality as “he/him” for the rest of this article because, as far as I can tell, he's still a man who never left that so-called toxic masculinity behind, even after transitioning. I’m talking about his demanding persona, the lack of compassion, the entitlement, the audacity to ask viewers for money so that he can eat out every day and harass workers. Besides, if he's okay with boldly claiming that Kurt Cobain was trans, he should be fine with being called "he."

Let’s get into Tino’s content.

The Lilly Tino Controversy Explained

It seems like Tino purposely tries to elicit anger or a certain reaction from the servers, then plays victim once he gets misgendered. In one TikTok live, Tino reportedly "asked a server a million and one questions about a dressing that had oregano in it, because she didn't like oregano... Then proceeds to ask if he can bring out a little sample of it for her to try. Every single time her lives pop up, she is at a restaurant complaining or critiquing something," wrote one viewer on Reddit.

Another person on Reddit said that Tino “is constantly complaining to managers and getting free food. She will find hair in her food and has her dog there shedding in the food. She makes $500 plus a night just by dry begging everynight…….cashapp.. getting 100% of the money not that tiktok gifting.” [sic]

Tino gets upset all the time. In a video two months ago, he got stuck in an elevator. So he pressed the "call" button, and he was upset that the person on the other line called him "sir," even though the guy trying to help him obviously could not see Tino.

Tino Is Allegedly a "Sex Addict"

I noticed on Tino's profile that he had a link to his Patreon where he sold "spicy content." Someone on Reddit took one for the team and watched one of his videos. First off, Tino is a self-proclaimed "lesbian," yet willingly went down on a bearded man.

The video the Redditor saw included Tino, a woman named Jessica, and a man named Brad. At some point in the pornographic video, Tino holds down Jessica while Brad beats her with a hairbrush, because men abusing women is sexy. I'm not going to go into any more details, but the viewer wrote: "In conclusion LILLY IS A SEX ADDICT! aNY sex is good sex for her. She’s not just a lesbian or a trans woman… she’s a sex/kink addict." [sic]

Lilly Tino Claims Kurt Cobain Was Probably Trans

The irony in all of this is how Tino tries to preach about using “gender neutral” language while referring to his waiters as he. And, more recently, he uploaded a video assuming Kurt Cobain’s gender and sexuality – which is against everything he supposedly stands for. "I bet you didn't know that Kurt Cobain was probably trans. Here's why," Tino starts off.

"First off, Kurt wore a lot of women's clothing." Okay, and? Do dresses, heels, makeup = woman? He continues, "And when asked about this, they replied that they wore dresses 'all the time because they felt comfortable and free.'"

Tino adds, "And in an interview about their childhood, Kurt said that they mostly hung out around girls and that, at one point, they thought they thought they might be gay. Many trans people don't have the vocabulary yet to express their gender identity will describe what they're feeling as being 'gay.' That's exactly what I did in middle school." It’s honestly gross for Tino to project his personal experiences onto others, including the people who can no longer speak for themselves. It’s disrespectful. There’s also obviously a difference between being gay and being transgender.

"Kurt is also quoted as saying that they identify more with the feminine than with the masculine. This is clear proof that Kurt did not identify with the gender they were assigned at birth." It's honestly crazy that Tino is referring to his baseless assumptions as "clear proof." There are men who are in touch with their feminine side and vice-versa, but this does not necessarily mean they’re experiencing gender dysphoria, nor does it mean they’re transsexual.

"And the most convincing evidence that Kurt was trans was in an early version of Nirvana's  'All Apologies' lyrics where Kurt wrote, 'Let me grow some 'breasts,'” he claimed. “That is clear-cut gender dysphoria."

To summarize, Tino gets very angry and capitalizes off people assuming his gender, yet boldly claims that Kurt Cobain – who is deceased and should be left in peace – is transgender.

Tino Faces Backlash from the LGBTQ Community

The content creator has gone too far, and even voices in the LGBTQ+ community have condemned Tino’s actions. Some say they’re tired of him. Even people who use “they/them” pronouns have determined that Tino's reactions to getting called “he” are unwarranted. The same community that backed him appears disgusted with his actions. It makes sense why, since he's giving them a bad rep by using his platform to represent the community. The backlash makes it clear to me that we’re witnessing Tino’s downfall.

Clarkson Lawson, a popular gay conservative on the platform, said that when he was growing up, he played with his mom's makeup and wore his sister's clothes a lot, but "that didn't mean that I wanted to be a woman." He clarified that he was a man who simply liked feminine things – not because he wanted to change his gender.

Lawson also brought up a good point, stating that Tino's message is incredibly dangerous to young men. "It's also extremely dangerous that you're [Tino] trying to convince young, gay feminine men that they're not actually gay, but they're the wrong gender." Many women had a tomboy childhood, only to grow out of it in adulthood. If they were told that they were the opposite gender, it’s possible they would have been influenced to remove their breasts or take hormones when they never needed to. This can lead to regret later on.

Tino Loses Thousands of Followers

It's obvious that Tino struck a nerve with everyone. In the past two days, he's lost thousands of followers and counting. He quickly blew up after his "misgendering" videos went viral, and he's going down just as fast.
