President Donald Trump has appointed Susie Wiles, his long-time campaign manager, as his White House Chief of Staff. Wiles will be the first woman to ever hold the position in U.S. history.

Wiles, who has operated largely under the radar throughout Trump’s political campaigns, has been an instrumental figure behind the scenes. She has played a pivotal role in Trump’s political successes, quietly steering his 2016 campaign to victory and later securing significant wins in Florida, a key battleground state. Trump himself recognized her low-profile yet effective strategy, calling her the “Ice Maiden” during his election night speech in 2016, an ode to her reserved style that kept her out of the spotlight while driving campaign success.

According to NPR, Wiles took charge of Trump’s campaign operations in Florida in 2016. Wiles also worked with Governor Ron DeSantis in 2018, helping him secure a gubernatorial victory, a campaign she later described as the “biggest mistake” of her career.

On November 7, President Trump praised Wiles. "Susie Wiles just helped me achieve one of the greatest political victories in American history, and was an integral part of both my 2016 and 2020 successful campaigns," he said. "Susie is tought, smart, innovative, and is universally admired and respected. Susie will continue to work tirelessly to Make America Great Again. It is a well deserved honor to have Susie as the first-ever female Chief of Staff in United States history. I have no doubt that she will make our country proud."
