Gabbard, who ran against Kamala Harris in the 2020 Democratic primaries, has become a notable voice across the political spectrum.

Gabbard’s endorsement at a Trump rally in Detroit on Monday came with a powerful message. She highlighted that the Biden-Harris administration has brought the nation to the brink of war, stating that "we cannot be prosperous unless we are at peace."

"I am confident that his first task will be to do the work to walk us back from the brink of war," Gabbard began. "We cannot be prosperous unless we are at peace, and we can't live free as long as we have a government that is retaliating against its political opponents and undermining our civil liberties, weaponizing our very institutions against those they deem as a threat. Kamala Harris has done this over the last three and a half years. She won't hesitate to continue that if she is elected as president."

This isn’t the first time Gabbard has taken down Harris. During a 2020 Democratic primary debate, Gabbard delivered a devastating critique of Harris’s record as California’s Attorney General, highlighting her hypocrisy for jailing thousands for marijuana violations while laughing about her own use of the drug. This moment is widely credited with damaging Harris's bid for the Democratic nomination, showcasing Gabbard’s ability to appeal to voters across the aisle.

"President Trump has been their first and foremost target in this because they don't want us as voters to even have the option to vote for him," Gabbard went on. "I have been their most recent target, added to a secret domestic terror watchlist after exposing the truth about what kind of dangers we would face if Kamala Harris is elected as president."

Gabbard’s remarks reinforce her departure from the Democratic Party, a decision she made in 2022 after describing the party as an "elitist cabal of warmongers.”

"We as Americans must stand together to reject this anti-freedom culture of political retaliation and abuse of power," she stated. "We can't allow our country to be destroyed by politicians who will put their own power ahead of the interests of the American people, our freedom, and our future."

"I am proud to stand here before you today, whether you're a Democrat, a Republican, or an Independent, if you love our country as I do, if you cherish peace and freedom as we do, I invite you to join me in doing all that we can to save our country and elect President Donald J. Trump and send him back to the White House to do the tough work of saving our country and serving the people," she urged the audience, calling for a united front against the destructive path of the current administration.

Gabbard’s endorsement marks a significant moment in the 2024 race, especially as it comes on the heels of Robert F. Kennedy Jr's scathing critique of Harris and endorsement of Trump.

As the campaign heats up, the support for Trump from these influential progressive figures is likely to resonate with voters disillusioned by the Democratic establishment and concerned about the direction of the country under Harris’s leadership.
