We Tried The Viral "Dubai Chocolate Bar" Drink At Starbucks—Here's Our Review

You’ve probably heard of the Dubai chocolate bar on TikTok, but have you tried the viral Dubai chocolate bar drink from Starbucks? If you’re curious about it, we gave it a try!

First, some context: The drink started making waves because TikTokkers couldn’t stop raving about how it tastes just like the viral “Dubai Chocolate Bar,” a decadent treat packed with toasted kataifi and pistachio cream that sparked an overseas obsession.  

Not everyone has access to the thick, luscious chocolate bar, but I think it’s safe to say that Starbucks is a great alternative for Americans. To get the drink, you order a grande iced matcha latte with two pumps of white chocolate mocha, two pumps of pistachio syrup, and a generous topping of chocolate cream cold foam. 

First Sip Impressions

Let’s get right into it! The drink is sweet but not ridiculously sweet. You get a solid hit of chocolate and pistachio right off the bat, which is great if you’re here for those flavors. But if you were hoping for the matcha or espresso to be the stars, you might be met with disappointment. The matcha is subtle; the coffee is practically nonexistent on the palate. 

The richness of the chocolate cream foam ties everything together nicely. But my friend, a matcha lover, had a different take. She thought it leaned too sweet and actually appreciated the subtle matcha flavor that peeked through for her.

In her words, “The Evie Team had been buzzing about the Dubai chocolate bar, so when I passed by Starbucks on my way to an appointment, I figured, why not? I rarely indulge in Starbies these days—though their Caramel Brulee Latte is a holiday favorite—but curiosity got the better of me.”

She added that the barista initially seemed confused when she ordered the drink but quickly figured it out. “When it came out, it looked beautiful with its blend of dark coffee, cream, and matcha. The flavor was rich and indulgent—surprisingly good! If I ordered it again, I’d probably go half-sweet since I don’t love overly sugary coffee anymore, but it was definitely tasty and not too sweet. Just right on the edge.”

The Dubai chocolate bar drink is good without being ridiculous. The kicker is that it’s a lot of sugar. If you’re someone who cringes at the idea of sugar-laden drinks or prefers their coffee to actually taste like coffee, this might not be your beverage. But if you want to taste the Dubai chocolate bar in drink form, it’s worth the shot.
