White sneakers are the ultimate summer shoe due to their versatility and ease of wear. You can wear them with dresses, skirts, jeans, shorts – they go with every outfit for almost every occasion. Whether your summer plans consist of brunch days, an Italian vacation, or playing tourist in your own city, a classic pair of white sneakers is the perfect shoe choice.

We recommend having at least two pairs of white sneakers in your rotation – a pair for casual wear and a dressier pair to wear with dresses, trousers, and other elevated pieces. These two pairs of sneakers can be slip-ons and a lace-up pair, platforms, or white sneakers with extra detailing. You'll never regret the investment, either because you will undoubtedly wear these shoes non-stop!

If you love the look of white sneakers but hate the upkeep, check out our quick tips to keep them clean all year long!

Ugh, My Sneakers Are Dirty

Reaching for a pair of dirty white sneakers is less than desirable. If you’ve avoided this style of sneaker in the past due to how easily the white becomes not white, we have tips and tricks to keep your shoes in pristine condition!

There are a ton of shoe cleaning products on the market, but you can quickly make your own formula using household items that will work just as well as a packaged spray or sponge. Baking soda and vinegar are a great combination for cleaning canvas sneakers because it won’t damage the fabric when you gently scrub. Never, ever soak your regular sneakers in a liquid, throw them in the washing machine, or put them in the dishwasher (we're looking at you, 2012) if you want to be able to wear them again!

If you have leather sneakers, use lukewarm water and a bit of dish soap to gently rub out stains with a cloth. Take your time wiping away stains and dirt, and avoid harsh soaps and rough towels when cleaning leather shoes. You can also use a touch of white toothpaste and a toothbrush to clean around finer details and hard-to-reach spots on your sneakers. Changing out your laces every so often can also instantly freshen up an old pair of sneakers into something you want to wear again!

These tips also work for white sandals, heels, and any other easily stained shoe in your wardrobe. Happy scrubbing!
