If you’ve ever felt FOMO because the women of generations past got to crush on a suave, charismatic Kennedy man in the public eye, I have great news for you. Our very own 21st-century Kennedy heartthrob is alive and kicking, and he’s never been so accessible. Meet Jack Schlossberg, heir to America’s favorite political dynasty and self-described “silly goose.”

As seems to be the burden of the men in his family, Jack (born John Bouvier Kennedy Schlossberg) has become both an influential political commentator and the country’s most eligible bachelor overnight. He might just be the nepo baby to end all nepo babies. But who exactly is the man behind the illustrious family name?

Who Is Jack Schlossberg?

Jack Schlossberg is John F. Kennedy’s only grandson through Caroline Kennedy, First Daughter and U.S. diplomat. While he’s made headlines here and there in the past, Schlossberg has been a mostly private man for the 31 years he’s been on earth so far. But thanks to his newfound virality, he’s getting more media coverage than ever – and no one wants to talk about him more than Gen Z does.

How come everyone cares about a random Kennedy scion all of a sudden? Well, it’s mostly due to his attention-grabbing TikTok profile @jack.schlossberg. The account is a combination of goofy videos and earnest political commentary. Schlossberg’s followers are attracted to his lighthearted personality, but let’s be honest, they also think he’s really hot. Case in point? His comment sections are regularly full of (only half-joking) marriage proposals.

Schlossberg’s first TikTok only goes back to May of this year, but he’s already gripped the app like lightning. People are fascinated that someone who sits at the apex of privilege can seem so relatable to those of us who didn’t attend an Ivy League school or grow up hearing stories about Grandpa the president.

While Schlossberg’s followers love his antics, not everyone is similarly impressed. A source claiming to have known JFK well told the New York Post that the late president “would be embarrassed” by his grandson’s online activity. One X post calls him “a stale DNC puppet with a TikTok account.” Schlossberg himself seems unperturbed by the backlash, continuing to dance shirtless and sing out loud for his audience of 115,000 and counting.

What Does He Do?

Schlossberg has a pretty impressive educational background. He completed his undergraduate degree in history at Yale University and went on to receive M.B.A. and J.D. degrees from Harvard’s business and law schools. In 2023, he passed the New York State bar exam and shared the news online with a cheeky Instagram post. You might never guess it by watching him goof off on TikTok, but Schlossberg has some serious intellectual chops.

That being said, he isn’t all academics. Schlossberg is also an actor who appeared in the Season 8 finale of Blue Bloods and continues to tease possible future projects in his interviews. Acting is a passion Schlossberg shares with his late uncle JFK Jr., who performed in several plays while at Brown University (rumor has it that JFK Jr. wanted to pursue acting as a career, but his mother Jackie wouldn’t stand for it).

Schlossberg’s most recent professional foray is an appointment as Vogue Magazine’s political correspondent, which was announced with much fanfare and a glossy photoshoot on Vogue’s social media profiles. Nepotism allegations abound, but for the most part, Schlossberg’s new job title has been met with…thirst. “Give him the cover next time,” one Instagram comment reads. “I’d risk the Kennedy curse for him,” says another.

What Are His Politics?

Schlossberg is an outspoken Democrat. Speaking to Vogue’s Hannah Jackson, he called his grandfather JFK “my hero” and “a blueprint for how progressivism can work in America.” Like most of his family, Schlossberg has endorsed Joe Biden in the upcoming presidential election.

While he personally identifies as a liberal, Schlossberg isn’t closed off to other political perspectives. “[Law school] made me much more aware of every point of view and more open to other ways of thinking,” he told Jackson. “Whenever I am thinking about something, I can hear other students – the super-conservative kids – and they’re not always wrong. … If you can channel other people’s voices, I think that makes you smarter.”

One voice Schlossberg definitely doesn’t want to hear is that of his first cousin once removed, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. Taking to Instagram last year, Schlossberg said, “I’ve listened to [RFK Jr.]. I know him. I have no idea why anyone thinks he should be president. What I do know is his candidacy is an embarrassment.”

Schlossberg accused his cousin of “trading in on Camelot, celebrity, conspiracy theories, and conflict for personal gain and fame” while urging RFK Jr.’s supporters to vote for Biden instead, claiming that “Joe Biden shares my grandfather’s vision for America [and is] becoming the greatest progressive president we’ve ever had.”

Is Schlossberg laying the Biden love on a little thick? Sure. But if the British royal family’s Sussex drama has taught us anything, it’s that when a famous family feuds, they go for the jugular. RFK Jr. has never engaged with his younger cousin’s insults, which is probably for the best. Otherwise, Thanksgivings would be way more awkward than they need to be.

Will He Be President One Day?

It’s the question that haunts every Kennedy heir: Will they run for president? JFK Jr. was plagued by that question his whole life. Even today, whispers swirl that he allegedly planned to run for governor in New York before his death, a role that would have set him on the path to run for president in 2008.

When asked, Schlossberg has been evasive about his political future. He told Town & Country that he won’t be seeking public office “anytime soon,” but he is “inspired by that legacy” his family carries. If he were to pursue the presidency, Schlossberg definitely has a few factors on his side.

There’s the Kennedy name with all the weight it carries in our country’s collective consciousness, his law degree from America’s most prestigious educational institution, and his *cough* not unpleasant appearance (which doesn’t sound like a political advantage, but good looks arguably helped Schlossberg’s grandfather defeat the shabbier Richard Nixon).

By the time the 2028 presidential election rolls around, Schlossberg will be 35 years old and therefore legally old enough to run. Will he step into the muddy ground of Washington like the brightest members of his family have? Or will he prefer to stick to TikTok videos and pithy Vogue columns? Only time will tell us, because Schlossberg sure won’t.
