We're learning of more and more harrowing stories about young women, even teens, whose lives have been irrevocably changed by videos of themselves being uploaded to Pornhub without their consent. Much of this content is sexual abuse content, not even consensual sex. Nicole Addimando, 35, is currently behind bars after her boyfriend abused her for years and posted the videos to Pornhub without her knowing. She is set to be released in 2024, and the mother of two has been sharing her story as a cautionary tale for women everywhere.

Nicole Addimando Behind Bars for Killing Her Boyfriend after He Raped Her and Uploaded Content to Pornhub

On June 30, 2018, Nicole Addimando, known as Nikki, was indicted with second-degree murder, first- and second-degree manslaughter, and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. She never denied that she killed her boyfriend, Christopher Grover, but she has always maintained that it was done out of self-defense. The jury issued a guilty verdict on second-degree murder and the weapons charge in 2019. Nikki claims that she was sexually abused for years—and the content was secretly uploaded to Pornhub by her boyfriend.

Nikki and Christopher met while working at Mr. Todd's Gymnastics in Poughkeepsie, New York, in 2008. They were friends initially, until their relationship grew, and they eventually had two children together. But even while they were raising their young children, Nikki says Christopher would torture her, and she was too scared to file any charges against him. When their son was only 6 weeks old, Nikki claims she declined to have sex with Christopher, but he "slammed her face into the door frame" of their son's room and raped her. Social worker Robin Nason told The New Yorker that Nikki was "scared to death to confront him" even though she found the tape of him raping her.

The abuse continued, even when Nikki was pregnant with their second child. Christopher allegedly "bit her on the shoulder and slammed her face onto the counter, twice, then sexually assaulted her." After that incident, Nikki received a forensic exam at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, but she was again too afraid to file a police report. At a later time, Christopher allegedly threw her to the floor, put a metal spoon into the gas flame on the stove, and used it to assault her. The abuse continued, according to Nikki.

On September 26, 2017, Child Protective Services was called after they received an anonymous report from a mother who saw Christopher losing his temper with students at Mr. Todd's Gymnastics and witnessed Nikki's injuries. They visited the apartment and interviewed the couple separately. Nikki said she was so afraid that they would take her children away that she made it seem like everything was okay.

The next night, a police officer was driving at 2 a.m. when he stopped behind Nikki's car at a traffic light. When the light turned green and she didn't drive, he beeped his horn. Nikki got out of the car, only wearing socks on her feet, and told the officer that "she tried to leave, but he said he would kill her." She also said a gun went off and that it was still in the house. That's when the investigation of Christopher's death started.

Nikki says she never filed a report because she thought if she could just make Christopher happy, he would stop, and maybe things would go back to normal. She maintains that the shooting was in self-defense. While she has been behind bars, Nikki has seen her children once a week. She told ABC News that she thought she was protecting her children by defending herself against their father. She has become an advocate for criminalized survivors who have suffered at the hands of abusers who were never punished.
