Women Upset At Transwoman For Appropriating Menstrual Cramps—"This Is Disturbing"
One trans TikToker uploaded a video of himself experiencing "intense period" pain. The user has since gone private on the platform after facing backlash.
A trans TikToker, who goes by @harletterose according to some users, documented his "first intense period" after having received HRT (hormone replacement therapy). "Trans girl experiences first intense period after HRT," the caption writes. The clip shows him holding his lower abdomen, which he places a heat mat on. Needless to say, women have been left upset by this.
"The grin after the 'why? stop' is classic duping delight. What a farce," writes SophieXY44. "I’ve been on estrogen for many years via various delivery methods and I’ve never experienced not one phantom menstrual cramp. Liars and LARPers."
"It’s not funny to mock women’s real life medical conditions," comments @MYST_MX9. "This is a white man, an oppressor according to these ppl & he’s mocking medical conditions of an oppressed group. How is this ok, unless it’s b/c he is from an oppressor group that he’s able to get away with it?"
"I have fainted, thrown up, had to take a week (unpaid) off work, ended up in a hospital and had to have ops due to menstruation. This is an unfunny and offensive farce," says @N0v3mberSmith.
"Obnoxious appropriation of [a] debilitating condition," adds @HumanMagpie.
@peakedspeak says, "This is disturbing."
Can HRT Cause Periods?
HRT is also known as gender-affirming hormone therapy, in which sex hormones are administered to produce physical changes in the body to undergo a sex change. While the symptoms of this therapy can produce effects that are similar to period pains – bloating, cramping, nausea, and breast soreness – HRT does not cause transwomen to have menstrual cycles.
